LOCAL PARTY COMMITTEES
NEWTON COUNTY
Alcorn County celebrates a rich past that played a major historic role in Mississippi, the South and the nation. The county’s residents, however, keep a constant eye on the future, making Alcorn a bright spot in northeast Mississippi’s progress. Playing a large role in this effort has been a hard-working local Democratic party.
Numerous politicians, jurist, writers, musicians and athletes have deep connections with Alcorn County and Corinth, its county seat. Because of Corinth’s origin as a major rail crossing, it played a significant role as the staging point for the Confederate Army in the Battle of Shiloh and a lengthy, renowned siege over control of the railways. It boasts numerous sites on the National Register of Historic Places, along with nearby Shiloh Military Park, national cemeteries and the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center, as well as several first-class museums.
If you are interested in helping Alcorn County Democrats maintain our core Democratic principals and ideals, here is where you can start.
